The word Reiki (“ray-key") means Universal Life Force Energy. Reiki is a simple, hands-on method of healing the mind, body and spirit. Reiki is the art, and science, of activating and applying natural, universal life force energy to promote wholeness and healing. It has no doctrine or creed. Originally developed in Japan it transcends cultural and religious boundaries. Reiki is an all- inclusive healing modality.
Each practitioner develops a unique relationship with the energy itself. The relationship strengthens through use by developing a trust. The more you trust the process and Reiki energy, the greater the results and deeper the level of intimacy.
The Reiki energy is used to enhance, protect and heal our lives on all levels. It can be used in all circumstances of our lives: relationship, finance, health, conflicts and travel for example.
In Level 1 the student receives the initial Reiki attunement which opens the crown chakra and allows the Reiki energy to flow into the practitioner at a level comfortable for them. Level 1 should include a history of Reiki, the Reiki Principles, basic hand positions and an in depth discussion about how to use Reiki in your life daily. Your Master/Teacher will share with you their experience, history and philosophy. When you leave this class you will have the ability to work on yourself and others.

Using small easy movements that trigger deep releases in your muscles, this class will cover a number of major muscle groups that often hold patterns of tightness and pain and then do yoga postures that deepen the opening in those muscles. I always advise students to work only at their own level and demonstrate more than one level of movement so that anyone can participate. At the end of the afternoon your body will be more relaxed and free and a few key movements will have been repeated often enough that you will have some tools for ongoing practice.

Leigh Gaitskill has been a certified yoga teacher since 1988. In 1990 she completed Nine Gates Mystery School, studied Huna, the Fisher Hoffman process, Buddhist practices, and worked with Hopi elder Jeremie Jackson for two years. After working with Robert Masters’ Psychophysical Technique for years she created new routines that use his triggers of release combined with yoga to repattern the body.
